The past weekend was my cousin's wedding in Las Vegas.
Ryan, Evan, and I got everything pulled together and left very early Friday morning for our 6 hour trek.
And of course I wore sweatpants, no make-up, and one of Ryan's shirts for the drive...but I didn't know that I would be wearing this heinous outfit all day long through restaurant meals, reception set-up, and the movies.
Good thing I don't care to impress anyone :)
Confession.
The first time I ever saw the "Hunger Games" movie trailer, I actually teared up.
Serious. It's ok, I know I'm a weirdo!!
Thus, I've been drooling over the movie for months.
I read all the "Hunger Games" books and absolutely loved them.
It's one of the first series in a while that I haven't been able to put the book down.
And as any book worm knows...the movie is never ever as good as the book.
I thought this one would be different though, they CAN'T mess this up!
The movie was riveting, the action, the characters were what I had imagined, the scenery, the grandeur of it all was fantastic....
BUT.
I didn't feel that same connection with the characters like I did in the book.
The characters and the story line were underdeveloped.
And for Ryan, who didn't read any of the books, had TONS of unanswered questions.
For all us "Hunger Games" readers, I think we filled in all those empty holes with the information we already knew from the book.
But for those poor people who didn't read the books, they were mega confused.
That was my only beef with the movie.
I'm really hoping that the writers & directors learn to explain some more things for the next movie, and to focus on the character development more, because we all love those sweet Katniss & Peeta scenes :)
Yet I digress from the trip!
After we got into Vegas at 11am on Friday, we set up the reception all day, finished around 7pm, my mom and I got our nails done, and we all went to see the Hunger Games movie at a 9:40pm showing.
THEN, we had the lovely pleasure of eating at the 24 hour diner in the smokey hotel casino.
Definitely a memorable experience :)
Ohhhh Vegas...
How you entertain me with your old people gambling their life savings, your smokiness that makes me go cross-eyed, and your blindingly bright lights, even at the 7-11 and In-N-out :)
