Weekend Update: Uber Late Date Night

Right after Ryan got off work on Friday night {around 9:30pm} I hustled his bum out the door cause we had a movie to catch at 10:30. I spent all this time getting dolled up for our uber late night date and gosh darn it we were gonna see Despicable Me 2! Usually I would not even be alive at 10:30 at night, but you gotta do whatcha gotta do when the husband isn't home 'till what feels like the middle of the night. At a company picnic a few weeks ago Ryan wrestled the holy tar out of some other sales guys and won us free movie tickets. Ohhh the perks of having a super buff husband...that other guys are scared to wrestle. Mwhahaha! Our date night consisted of hilarious minions, homemade quesadillas, and a super late bedtime {that we could barely handle....we are so old!}. How was your weekend?

Weekend Update: SD+Father's Day

As I said in my last post, we made our way down to SD for Ryan's cousin's graduation, and ohhhh boy did I go off of my calorie count. Poor My Fitness Pal didn't see me all weekend. Between the fajitas at Chilis, Korean BBQ {which is the club looking place in the picture above, it was nuts!}, eggs benedict in a cute little restaurant on the beach, chocolate gelato, and Sprinkles cupcakes...I would have been wayyy too afraid to input my calories. Thus, they didn't count :) After we pretty much partied all weekend with his fam, Ryan and I made our way up from SD to Long Beach to meet up with my family at Brazilian Steakhouse Amazon for Father's Day {dad's pick of course}. I brought him a Sprinkles Red Velvet cupcake in a cute 'lil box and I heard that he later scarfed it down and didn't share a bite with anyone. Way to be dad ;)

Weekend Hangover

After such a raucous party weekend with Ryan's family in San Diego (UCSD graduation, Korean BBQ, brunch on the beach, an intense bike ride, delicious chocolate gelato, Sprinkles cupcakes), I'll definitely be taking it easy today! Working out, lounging, and some pool time are sounding realllly good right about now :) 

Summer Uniform

It's so nice to be back in my warm CA element! This is my summer uniform: blouse, skirt, and flats. In high school I was one of those girls who dressed up for school, like seriously dressed up...the whole shabang my friends. Dresses, skirts, wedges, heels, ruffles, glitter, bright & obnoxious colors, hair curled...everything you can think of that is girly and fun. Granted I'm not doing the Blair Waldorf bow headbands anymore, but I like over-the-top girly outfits just the same. :)

Things Only Californians Know

In-N-Out tastes better after you have been at the beach all day and you are covered in sand.

You will never ever ever refer to it as Cali.
Only people from "the outside" call it Cali.

The Indiana Jones ride breaks down at least a bazillion times a year.

And it always seems to happen when you are there. Bogus!

Speaking of Disneyland...skipping school to hit up D-land is the bestest idea in the world.

No tourists, no lines....all awesomeness.

You know that the 91 freeway sucks pretty much at all times of the day.

You also know the 3-5 freeways it takes to get from where you live to anywhere awesome.

Instagraming sushi, beach sunsets, your new sandals, and fro-yo is absolutely necessary.

No one cares what you are wearing, who you are with, and what you are doing.

We ain't got no time for that!

Avocados taste better on anything and everything.

What kind of jeans & shoes you wear says pretty much everything about you.
Buckle jeans? Tool.
True Religion? Expensive.
Target? Ballin' on a budget.

You make fun of Fresno and call it the armpit of CA...unless you live there.
In that case? I'm sorry. 

You know to never go to the beach on the 4th of July unless you want a day of traffic, family fights,  tourists, people crammed on the beach, and no parking spots...essentially h*ll.

Only Nor-Cal kids say "hecka" and do that stanky face dance.
So-Cal kids don't understand that Bay Area stuff!

You bust out your boots & sweaters when it gets to a low of 65 degrees...brrrr!

Ohhhh how I miss California life...
Wait a minute...I'll be there all summer!

Just Another California Trip

This past weekend we ventured down to sunny Southern California to visit the family and to attend my brother's mission farewell during church.

Ryan spoke during the meeting & I sang a song titled "His Hands". 

It was such a heart warming & touching sacrament meeting :)

This Wednesday (March 6th), he goes into the MTC, it still hasn't hit me yet that it's actually here.

Seeing as how Evan will not be eating a lot of sushi in Mexico on his mission, we made it a point to hit up some sushi time together.

No matter how many times I tell myself:

"Hey self, how about you not stuff yourself 'till the point of a stomachache again?"

I still manage to complete obliterate the sushi set in front of me.

It's a love hate relationship here.

I don't care what anyone says, Pinkberry will always have my heart.

None of this Swirl or Yogurtland nonsense!

Lastly, with the little time we had in CA last weekend I managed to have some awesome mother/daughter time at Home Depot looking for flowers and Home Goods looking for fun home stuff.
My fam is coming up our way to Provo this next week to drop Evan off at the MTC.
Sooo if you run into me next Wednesday my face may be puffy from all the happy tears I'll be crying.

Would You Still Buy It?

When this top first came onto our store, I instantly fell in love with it.

Stripes, navy, peplum, and some cute 3/4 sleeves.

It'll be sooo versatile.

I tried it on & him-hawed.

The peplum hit a little lower than expected, vertical stripes make a person visually look wider, and the top kinda flared out...

I feared that people would think I've got a bun in the oven!!

I can usually count on my mom or Ryan to give me a straightforward opinion.

Ryan loves the classic look & my mom always encourages me to try new styles, so it's fun to see what each of them say when I try out a new look.

Ryan loved it and my mom warned me that I may look a little preggo...so what do you do?

I was so conflicted. It's cute as all get out, but it's a slightly different shape than what I usually lean towards for my body type.

Would you still buy it?

You already know the end to this story, I caved it and purchased it regardless.

 I just couldn't bear the thought of leaving it in the store for someone else to snag up.

Even though I'm sure this top isn't the most flattering item I own, I fell in love with it!

Road Trip Gone Rogue

This past Thursday morning we drove south on the 15 freeway towards So-Cal for our mini vacation we have had planned for months, 

when Ryan & I hear this really weird puttering going on in his car.

We pull over and try driving it on the shoulder to see if it kept making that that noise.

Didn't sound good!

I hopped on the phone with AAA, got our car towed to the Beaver mechanic shop and had it looked at.

Ummm, ya.

The freaking engine blew. 

Worst nightmare right?

I really tried being optimistic.

For those who don't know Utah...Beaver is literally in the middle of NOWHERE.

The closest city was an hour away, Cedar City.

We hop on the phone to get a rental.

Only one rental place, Avis, has one rental car left in it's lot...and they refuse to come pick us up.

That's when I was about to rip someones head off.

ISN'T THAT THE POINT OF A RENTAL COMPANY?!

Thankfully one of the mechanics took pity on us and drove us to Cedar City.

By this point I was seething.

A red eyed, fire breathing, starving BEEZY MONSTER.

I stomp into the rental place and ask:

"What the hell do I have to do to get a car and leave?"

After the many phone calls with them while we were stuck in Beaver,

 they had neglected to tell us about their insurance policy.

Flaming idiots I tell you.

Finally we get it figured out, and we end up with the last rental in Cedar City.

Hmmm ya. I'll take it.

It was seriously a blast rip roaring around in that thing.

We got in late Thursday night and was greeted by family and homemade chili.

Yummmmmmmmmmm.

Friday we spent with our friend Cody, then went out to dinner with my best friend Sam and her boyfriend, then opened up my brothers mission call...

VILLAHERMOSA, MEXICO!!!

Evan was so excited!

He wanted to serve a foreign mission and to speak another language, preferably Spanish.

I got to get crackin' on my Spanish now!!

Ya, until we lost!

Even though we lost, were rained on more than half the game, saw a huge brawl fight only a few seats away from us, there were scary Mexicans trying to pick a fight with Ryan cause he is buff, and practically smoked pot just by the smelling it...this was definitely a way fun experience!!

 It was Ryan's first college football game other than a BYU game and

 he practically wet his pants when we first laid eyes on the Rose Bowl.

Definitely worth it :)

Can't wait for next year when we will absolutely DOMINATE UCLA!!

Early Sunday morning we started making our way back to good ole Provo, Utah because I had a test at 9am Monday morning {lame!}.

For as stressful the car situation was, I totally forgot about it when I was with all my family & ripping around in the Mustang with Ryan and the top down.

Now it's time for another mini-vacay toooo St. George for Thanksgiving!

Leaving tomorrow {Wednesday} then coming back Friday morning for work.

Black Friday. Working in the mall...

Now that oughta be a day full of stories.

a perfect d-land day

I just realized that I haven't posted any pictures from my California trip from almost two weeks ago!

That's what happens when school is about to start, I'm cleaning the house whilst figuring out not only my school & work schedule, but Ryan's too!

My brain is frazzled & I'm losin' it. 

Time for a Diet Coke?

I was uber bummed that Ryan couldn't come with me to Cali this time around, but he promised me next time to take me on another romantic Storybook ride at night.

But my brother Evan, offered to drive and go with me to Disneyland.

Sometimes I wonder how I'm so blessed with such an awesome family.

Seriously.

Evan made sure I was fed, he drove, and we hit up practically every ride!

It was such a good day for D-land.

It wasn't too flaming hot, there was hardly anyone in the park, and we got to do all the main rides!!

Indiana Jones, Star Tours, Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Buzz Lightyear, the train, Pirates of the Caribbean, Mr Toads Wild Ride, Alice in Wonderland, and we got our favorite...

Life Update

I know I haven't been 'round these parts lately...but holy moly, life has been treatin' me good!

 This past weekend my parents came up to help with the move from Orem to Provo and help with the decorating/organizing. I am completely in looooove with our new place :) 

I came back with the 'rents to Cali to get my braces off, then I head back to Utah to start my new job! Which I got! Thanks to all your help with the outfit choice ;) 

I promise once things settle down I'll give you a tour of the house, show off my new smile, and introduce the girl behind my new blog design!
