Nail Roundup

I've never been a huge fan of sitting down to do my nails, but I love having clean and pretty fingers. Kind of a predicament, huh? In fact, one of my biggest pet peeves {I'm sad to admit, it's one of many...} is ridiculously chipped polish. It looks so dirty and BLEH. It makes me want to wallow in a state of shock, self-loathing & pity just looking at it! {Ok, drama over}

It hasn't been until this past year that I've noticed some fun nail trends and tried a few out myself. I'm not a pro by any means, but I thoroughly enjoy trying out new polish combinations, brands, and techniques. It all keeps me pretty entertained & excited for my next manicure! This is my nail roundup from this past year, full of: prints, simple & bright polish, glitter-ed mania, and festive Christmas nails. Enjoy!

My 5 Favorite Photo Apps

1. A Beautiful Mess

This photo editing app has all the adorable fonts, phrases, and little extras (frames, twinkles, arrows galore) you need to make pictures that much cuter. It is created by the wonderful girls at the A Beautiful Mess blog, and once it came on the scene...it exploded! It's now my go-to for cute writing & various holiday wishes!

2. Afterlight

After using this app, I'll never go back to using Instagram's filters! Afterlight has adjustable filters that make pictures look more professional & striking without compromising the integrity of your photo. Plus, you can brighten or sharpen your picture without the blatant use of a filter.

3. Diptic

This is the only app I use for making collages because it is user friendly, and has adjustable sizing for the space in between pictures. This is what I use to create my side by side outfit pictures for Instagram because I'm able to use 2 entire pictures without having to crop it!

4. Whitagram

Ever have that problem where you want to show the whole image without cropping it into an oblivion just to fit the Insta-square? This app solves your problem toot-suite! It adds white bars to either the top/bottom or sides so you can showcase your entire picture while fitting it into the Insta-square.

5. After Focus

Have you ever noticed that fashion bloggers always have that blurriness in the back of their photo, making sure their outfit stands out? This is my new favorite app, because I can achieve that same look without having to pay hundreds for a fancy shmancy camera! The focusing technique takes a little getting used to, but once you got it down it's a piece of cake!

Preparation

Guess what...my birthday is NEXT SATURDAY. I finally get to run around singing: "I don't know 'bout you...but I'm feelin' TwEnTY TWOOOOoo!" And yes, I make it a big deal every year by texting out a countdown to my family. I'm sure it's not annoying or anything ;)

Friday Ryan will take me out for food and to scour the outlet mall for any fun goodies, then after a choir retreat on Saturday I want to have a 'lil get together with some of my favorite people for a night full of cake & games. I'm so stoked!

You know what this time of the year also means? HALLOWEEN. I've already taken out the decorations and started dusting them off to prepare for some Hocus Pocus-watching and Halloween decorating this next week. Hmmm, ya. You could say I'm pretty happy right now.

Summer Heat + A Bee Grave

I know everyone is starting to complain about how hot it's getting but I am LOVING it. This past winter in Provo, UT was the worst one in 65 years, isn't that ridiculous? In February I was getting major cabin fever with all the snow and ordered sandals & swimsuits! {Ryan obviously thought I was crazy, but when doesn't he think that?} This week I took advantage of the pool and laid out with my new VS swimsuit, my awesome floppy Target hat, and some magazines. I also started snacking on some raspberries when I found a DEAD BEE chillin' at the bottom of the package. You know, just snuggled in between all my raspberries. SICK NASTINESS. I was absolutely disgusted and told my family all about it, they laughed saying I was being overdramatic...ERRONEOUS, ERRONEOUS ON ALL ACCOUNTS!

Just Another California Trip

This past weekend we ventured down to sunny Southern California to visit the family and to attend my brother's mission farewell during church.

Ryan spoke during the meeting & I sang a song titled "His Hands". 

It was such a heart warming & touching sacrament meeting :)

This Wednesday (March 6th), he goes into the MTC, it still hasn't hit me yet that it's actually here.

Seeing as how Evan will not be eating a lot of sushi in Mexico on his mission, we made it a point to hit up some sushi time together.

No matter how many times I tell myself:

"Hey self, how about you not stuff yourself 'till the point of a stomachache again?"

I still manage to complete obliterate the sushi set in front of me.

It's a love hate relationship here.

I don't care what anyone says, Pinkberry will always have my heart.

None of this Swirl or Yogurtland nonsense!

Lastly, with the little time we had in CA last weekend I managed to have some awesome mother/daughter time at Home Depot looking for flowers and Home Goods looking for fun home stuff.
My fam is coming up our way to Provo this next week to drop Evan off at the MTC.
Sooo if you run into me next Wednesday my face may be puffy from all the happy tears I'll be crying.

Where LDS young adults from all of the country {and world} come to attend Brigham Young University to complete their schooling...aaaaaand to more importantly find a husband or wife.

When you are single and in the dating game here, you immediately "ring check" a cute potential date to make sure they aren't married.
And you always have this thought floating in the back of your mind when meeting someone new:

 "Could this person be who I marry??"

Honestly, it is such a weird culture.

Now that I've been married for almost 2 years and am almost graduated from BYU,

 it's funny to see how people who are 'single' react to me.

{It's sad that we even divide people by singles or marrieds...

it reminds me of muggles & wizards. Nerd alert.}

One thing that I literally want to run around and SCREAM in people's faces on campus is:

"STOP CONFUSING MY KINDNESS FOR FLIRTING"

Seriously though.

You hold a door open for someone, say hello, talk to them in class,

 or even more shocking...you dare SMILE at them?!

Provo-ites construe that as flirting, and if you have a ring on?

They are appalled that you even went out of your way and did anything nice because if you didn't already know...you're MARRIED and cannot treat anyone 'single' as a human being.

Ohhhhh Provo.

Here are some 'lil bite size stories from my life in the past two weeks-ish.

{I used my Niketrainer app, the LMFAO Pandora station, and a USC pillow pet as a medicine ball to work out. Once school is out I will be better than 1-2 times a week working out!}

{I switched out my boots for my wedges and flats. Can't wait for all the spring/summer weather!!! And no, my shoe section of the closet never looks this organized. Hence why it needed to be documented.}

{OMG. How the crap did I never know about this before? I always use Aveeno moisturizer for my face because of the SPF, but this tinted moisturizer makes my face look so smooth! My life has just gotten at least 5 times better because of it.}

{The walk on campus towards my car. And yes, I will brag that my campus is a freaking gorgeous one. Even though these flowery trees kinda smell like rotten fish :/}

{A homemade pesto, mayo, turkey, havarti on potato bread panini. SO GOOD! And my fave brand of Greek yogurt, but I always get the Greek yogurt with honey. Try it!}

{These uber cute wedges from Shoedazzle. Kinda looks a little Spanish huh? Makes me wanna go merengue or salsa dancing :D}

{Ryan, Evan, and I's Easter baskets! Tried to make it less girly and more manly by using football eggs. Ya, that didnt' really work.}

{My Easter Sunday outfit, pretty much got stared at while walking into church. I guess that's what happens when I wear a uber tight pencil skirt. I'm sexy and I know it? ;)}

{Our Easter bunny cake made out of funfetti cake. My favoritest cake OF ALL TIME. I could eat funfetti every day of my life. Ok, that's an exaggeration, I think I might die if I did that. But still, it's hte bomb.com}

{My appetizer specialty of stuffed mushrooms. Super cheap & easy to make, and they are always a crowd pleaser. How the heck could you go wrong with bacon and cream cheese?}

{Usually I'm an OPI girl, but I strayed for this "E-nuf is E-nuf" polish by Essie. I am very pleased :)}

{My fashion "trademark" I guess you could say, is anything with bees or bugs on it. So I just HAD to have these shoes. They went on sale from $98 to $25. I snagged them! But now I'm realizing that they are gonna hurt like a freaking motha to wear them in. Ohhh the pain you go through for cute shoes, right?}

{After my choir performance last night. This is my choir bff Erin Griffey, we first bonded over wedding colors cause she is getting married in Colorado, June 28! This choir night is when I discovered that I only have 5 pieces of black clothing in my whole humungous closet. What the heck!? It kinda makes sense though, my mom never bought me black clothes cause it's "too Vegas".}

{Finally, the poopy weather for the rest of this week. At least it will help me to stay inside and study right? By next wednesday I'll be done with all my finals and home free to travel to So-Cal! WOOT WOOT!}

{After Ryan's knee surgery he woke up from the anesthesia and was like "I want sushi." Dude, you just had surgery, are you serious? "Ummm ya, lets go! I can still walk" Sure baby...sure}

{So we sat at the restaurant, and he devoured at least 3-4 plates of sushi. What the heck!?}

{These Lofthouse cookies would be the death of me if I could eat more than one at a time without feeling all the cavities form in my mouth...SOOO GOOD}

{Ryan was really keen on having a Zen waterfall in our room. So while he was resting his knee, I set up his 'lil waterfall near our bed, he was content :)}

{The teal Asos pants and studded wedges I wore to my craft club's Parent Showcase. I'm gonna miss those kids! And yes, my slideshow was the BOMB.COM}

{A dress that was made for me by Terri Moore, I got the sleeves shortened, and love it! I'm glad that the Mad Men style I've always loved, is in style. Anyone addicted to that show yet?}

{OMG. Stupidest busy work OF MY LIFE. Watch 8-10 you tube videos about architecture and write 10 lines of what you learned about each one. Due tomorrow. Ugh. Why do teachers like to pull those kind of stunts right at the end of the semester? WHYYYYYYYY}

{My outfit today. It is so sunny and happy outside, which totally makes me miss living in Sunny So-Cal everyday of every year of my life. *sigh* One day, one day I will convince my Montana man...}
